Nora

Translation and localisation

Takes your catalogue into other languages, with a glossary, a do-not-translate list and a native review. She measures two things: what is missing and what has gone stale.

Nora is software. One human is accountable: Alexander Falk.

Nora as a drawn figure in front of a long table with fifteen paper stacks, baton raised.
Nora is software. The figure is drawn.

A proposal from Nora

This is what a change looks like before it takes effect.

Before, after and the rule behind it. Only once you approve does Nora write to your system.

Fill in a missing translation, following the glossary

before"cart.add": "In den Warenkorb legen" // en-GB, untranslated
after"cart.add": "Add to basket" // en-GB, per glossary

Example. Rule: Missing and outdated translations kept apart, one glossary per language. Nothing is written until you click “Approve”.

The process

How Nora works

Works from: Your source texts and the translation inventory in the shop, plus a glossary and a list of terms that are never translated.

  1. Take stock

She separates what is missing from what is outdated because the source changed. Each needs different handling.

  2. Check the source

Before any language starts, she checks the source text once for all of them. An error there would otherwise appear in every language.

  3. Language runs

Each language runs on its own and in parallel, with automated checks of formatting, terminology and numbers.

  4. Native review

A native-speaker review reads independently of the translator and gives a verdict without changing anything itself.

  5. You decide

    One approval

All languages sit on one card, with examples for each. You approve once, not language by language.

  6. Read back

After writing she reads back live to confirm the new version arrived and the old one is gone.

Result

What you have at the end

  • Translations in the shop, verified per language
  • A before-and-after report with rejections and the review verdict
  • A list of gaps in the glossary

Tailoring

Tailored to your business

Nora is not off-the-shelf software. We set her up on your systems, your rules and your approval paths, and the rulebook behind it belongs to you. Tailored, for example:

  • Your languages and markets
  • Your glossary and brand terms
  • Which texts are never translated automatically

The limit

What Nora does not do

She never translates legal pages automatically. And she does not optimise the target language for search engines: an optimised target text is a different text.

Character

How to recognise Nora

  • A conductor, not a soloist
  • Goes and looks for herself
  • Friendly suspicion
  • Fears the outdated more than the missing
  • Protects other people’s attention
  • Faithful before brilliant

Works best with Leo. He optimises the titles, she carries them over faithfully, so they never get in each other’s way.

Favourite line

“An approval nobody reads is no approval.”

How Nora greets you: “Tell me which texts and which languages, and I’ll first check whether the German holds up before it travels fifteen times.”
